South Fayette Elementary School Science Fair

Members of the SFCG taught wetland science to the students of the
South Fayette Elementary School at the February 2008 Science Fair.

Students learned the role that wetlands play in filtering out environmental
contaminants such as fertilizer and animal waste products during a rain event.

Watershed models were used to demonstrate how wetlands, depicted in our demonstration as sponges, absorb the contaminants, depicted with Kool-aid.
